Known Bugs in NWN1

Technical Bugs

"CD Key In-use”
This is due the Bioware/Gamespy servers not noticing your last logoff. Go get some coffee and it will self correct. If the problem persists, someone else may be using your CD key.

"Unable to translate address”
This is due either to a typo on the server address, your Internet connection dropping or an issue on our end. If you have triple checked the spelling of the server name and your connection, we apologize for the inconvenience. Check the Message Boards to see if anyone else is having the same issue.

“Server is not responding (timed out)”
Occasionally servers will be down for some reason. This should have been posted to the Message Boards if it was a planned outage, but people have been known to drop a tree on our DM’s homes. Try using Direct Connect via the IP, which may be found on the Beta Information Page reached via the Member’s page.

"Password incorrect”
We will be updating the ALFA password periodically. Check the Member’s page to ensure you are using the correct one. There will be a short period where your server may still be using the old one, so try them both. Passwords are CASE SENSITIVE.

“Dead Black screen at login with no sound after Character Selection”
This usually indicates that the server is looking for content in a Hakpack that you do not have. If this is your first ALFA login, check to make sure you have correctly downloaded, uncompressed & saved the Hakpack. If this is not your first time you may try to connect to another server, or create a new character on this server to test. Do not use these methods for anything but login testing.

“My Character is not shown at login”
Occasionally the connection between your server and the Character Vault is slow or broken. Wait times of up to 3 minutes are not normal, but may exist. Go get some coffee. If it does not self correct (or if long delays are common), let your DM know. You may also direct connect to another server to see if your character is shown there. Again, do not play on other servers using this method, but it is useful information for your DM.

Gameplay Bugs

“An NPC priest refuses to deal with me or calls me ‘Faithless’”
You left blank the deity field in the final customize screen during character creation. If you are playing a faithless character it is generally wise to enter “faithless” in the deity field instead, to avoid having DMs pointing out to you all the time that your deity field is empty!

“I walked through a door during a server save, but the screen went gray and I can’t move/talk”
Terminate NWNMain.exe. If you use Windows you can do this by bringing up the Task Manager (Ctrl-Shift-Esc or Ctrl-Alt-Del) and ‘End Task’ on NWNMain.exe. Log back in normally.

“I applied healing to a dead character and the corpse vanished”
Healing applied to a dead PC will result in the loss of his corpse and the inability to resurrect or loot that PC. Try to make sure that you heal only the dying and not the dead. Only the DM will be able to raise a PC (if appropriate) in a case of a corpse going missing, but the DM may not be able to replace lost inventory.

“I attempted to barter a corpse and the server crashed”
One of those NWN things. Can't explain it; don't do it. Instead, drop the corpse on the ground and let the other PC pick it up.

Portal Bugs

“I was quarantined upon direct connecting to a new server”
You must physically walk across your starting server to find the ‘border’ to the adjacent server. Portalling is the only valid method of changing servers.

“I was quarantined upon portalling properly to a new server”
Find the DM, either in chat or via the server’s forum or private message.
